Our Favorite Moments at The Art of Taste Culinary Festival

At Lazy Gourmet Catering & Events, we look forward to the month of July each year for at least one specific reason - for the traditional culinary festival Art of Taste, organized by The Resort at Pedregal. This year was the festival's 4th edition, and just like a good wine, the festival is getting richer and better with years. Fabulous, fantastic, colorful, delicious, original, tasty, fun, tropical, Mexican, and so many more words we could use to describe this year's Art of Taste. But perhaps it's better to show you some of our favorite moments in photos, captured by Julieta Amezcua Photography.

Like in the previous years, Lazy Gourmet Catering & Events team has been part of creating Art of Taste this year as well. We helped create the scenery for all the different events that took place at the Resort, and - if you don't mind us saying - we think it looked rather fabulous! Complemented by the exquisite food prepared by the culinary team of the resort and guest chefs, this year's Art of Taste was an unforgettabñe feast!

120 participants enjoyed four days of epicurean adventure with the ocean and the mountains as the backdrop. The Resort at Pedregal’s Executive Chef Yvan Mucharraz was joined by award-winning guest chefs including Tim Hollingsworth, Chef/Owner of Barrel and Ashes, and Former Chef de Cuisine of The French Laundry; Rory Herrmann, Culinary Director of Sprout LA and Co-Owner of Barrel and Ashes; Brian Malarkey, Executive Chef and Restaurateur of Searsucker and Herringbone; and Devin McDavid, the newly Appointed Executive Pastry Chef of The Resort at Pedregal, and formerly of Quince and Cotogna, The French Laundry and Blue Hill. Other notable guests during this summer’s festivities included a unique combination of international mixologists, spirits and wine experts.

While participants could join the chefs at the cooking demonstrations, a tequila seminar, wine tastings, a beach barbecue and more, our three favorite events were: a seaside cocktail reception featuring boutique vintners showcasing their wines alongside perfectly paired canapés prepared by our guest chefs. Mexican Mercado, which was the highlight of the festival. Together with The Resort at Pedregal we re-created a real Mexican Mercado (or open air market) featuring unique Mexican street food, jewelry, pottery and authentic entertainment and performers. This extravaganza closed with an elaborate five-course dinner at Don Manuel's, with each course individually prepared by a different chef, and a celebratory after- party.
This year's food festival at The Resort at Pedregal truly was an Art of Taste, and we can't wait until the next one!
